Interdependent Project Ambassador Susan Frank
Sustainable Community & Events Tour 2009

Ever wonder what it would be like to travel to sustainable communities and attend 'green' festivals and events?
Prescott University student and Interdependent Project media ambassador Susan Frank went on a 6 month tour across the United States on a journey of discovery to get an insiders view of what the 'green' is all about and meet some of the leading pioneers within the sustainability movement.
Susan is the Executive Administrator of the private Interdependent Community Sphere and a recent graduate of Prescott University AZ. As media laison for the Interdpendent project she conducted/produced video interviews, evalutated/documented her experiences, and made solid connections during the 6 month sustainable communities and events tour. This page will be host Susan's videos and links to her blog where you can read more detailed information. Because of the large volume of media that was produced content will be added weekly.

"In choosing to volunteer for 3 shifts at the Green Festival in Denver I purposely placed myself
in 3 different perspectives to observe how it was organized. My goals were to connect with people who worked in these areas for future interviews, get
a sense of the major categories of responsibility or the "ingredients map" of what is involved in producing and operating this event, and gain an overall perspective of the Green Festival such that I could make a general assessment of how sustainable the production is and is not...."

"A few facts: The Green Festival states it offsets 100% of its electricity emissions with renewable, clean energy, and screens it's exhibitors for their commitment to sustainability, ecological balance, and social justice by holding them to Green America's green business standards . The festival is held in 5 major cities- San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, Seattle, and Washington DC. This was the first year for the Denver event, and it attracted over 23,000 people."

"I couldn't help but wonder what percentage of the 23,000 people who attended the Denver Green Festival were “the choir”, already making efforts to live more sustainably, and how many folks were attracted to attending without much prior commitment to sustainable living."
